When you’re buying or selling a home, you spend a lot of time picking an agent. But there’s a second question most people never ask: who is behind that agent?

We think the answer matters a lot, and we asked one of our agents, Levi, to tell us why.

“This has to be fake.”

Before Levi joined us, he came to one of our quarterly team meetings. His first reaction was, “This is completely fake. There’s no way this is real.”

It was real. “I’ve never been happier in my life to be wrong,” he says. “The team is so upbeat, so positive. We’re there for each other. We can coach each other through bad times. We can tell each other when we’re wrong.”

Real estate isn’t easy, and we won’t pretend it is

Levi is honest about the work. “I’d be lying if I said it was easy. It’s definitely a tough grind. It’s a lot of work.”

What got him through the hard stretches was a team that’s always there: “No matter what I’m facing, good situation or bad situation, they’re there.”

What that means for you

A deal can get complicated fast. An inspection turns up a surprise, an appraisal comes in low, a closing date shifts. When your agent has a team behind them, they aren’t solving it alone. They have people to ask, people who will tell them if they’re wrong, and people who’ve handled it before. For you, that means better advice and fewer surprises.

Questions to ask any agent before you hire them

1: Who do you turn to when a deal gets complicated?

2: Do you work with a team, and who would I deal with day to day?

3: What happens if you’re unavailable when I need an answer?

4: How do you keep me updated during the process?

A good agent will have clear, confident answers to all four.
