The pros and cons of living in the Mooreland area, Downtown Carlisle.

What’s it like to live in the Mooreland area, Downtown Carlisle? To put it simply, it has been a wonderful experience for me and my wife! We bought a house on Wilson Street in downtown Carlisle before we got married in 2009. Our home was a cute yellow two-bedroom house with around 960 square feet.

We fell in love with the entire area and enjoyed taking walks every night. Holding hands with my wife, we would walk in the springtime, have a cup of coffee in the morning, and visit restaurants. It was a vibrant and welcoming place to live, and we had the opportunity to connect with our neighbors.

The community in the Mooreland area provided a sense of relationship, connection, and belonging, especially considering the importance of these aspects in a post-COVID world. I no longer live there, but even now, I still long for the experience of living in this area with my wife.

However, it’s important to mention some drawbacks of living here. One of the main cons is the traffic. Although there are beautiful homes with great architecture, the area experiences a significant amount of traffic. This realization came after we purchased another property, expecting to raise our family there. Concerns about our kids’ safety due to the traffic led us to consider moving to a suburban neighborhood with less congestion.

Nonetheless, there are side streets in Mooreland that have lighter traffic compared to main thoroughfares like South College and West High. If you prefer a quieter location, you can find homes on these streets while still enjoying the charm, architecture, and convenience of the neighborhood.

Ultimately, whether the Mooreland area is the right fit for you depends on your preferences.
