Our real estate market has shifted, and buyers should take advantage of it.
Is the real estate market still as competitive for homebuyers as it was four or five months ago? The market has changed a lot since spring, and many people are wondering if it’s slowing down and if it’s easier for a homebuyer to find and actually get a house.
Earlier this year, we were competing for every house because they sometimes had up to 30 offers. The reality is that interest rates have risen, which has softened demand. Is it still competitive? Yes, in a historical context, we’re still in a seller’s market. Is it less competitive? Somewhat. Now is a good time to buy a home if you had a hard time in the spring. There are some first-time homebuyer and repeat-homebuyer mortgage programs that might surprise you.
